EPA Mandated Lead Based Paint Training

Online & In Person Classes Available

This online course will satisfy the class time, however, you will still need to perform the hands-on training course live. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  to register for the hands-on portion being offered soon, so notify the office of your intention for attending.  The fee for the online portion is $50 and payable when you take the course. The hands-on portion is $149 for members and $199 for non members and payable to KBHBA prior to the hands-on class. Pre-registration in the hands-on class is required.

The Klamath Basin Home Builders Association has teamed up with Klamath Community College and the National Center for Healthy Housing to bring these classes to you in the Klamath Basin.

Under new EPA rules that went into effect on April 22, 2010, anyone performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint (in excess of 6 square feet indoors or 20 square fee outdoors) in homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to minimize occupants' exposure to lead hazard.

All individuals performing activities that disturb painted surfaces must be certified renovators or have been trained by a certified renovator. A certi-fied renovator must also be assigned to each reno-vation and perform all of the EPA-mandated re-sponsibilities of a certified renovator.

Fines for non-compliance are anticipated to be $5,000 per day, per job site.
